About Céile Dé Teaching Retreats
Céile Dé teachings take place regularly internationally. This website contains all the information you need about teaching retreats in Scotland, England and Europe. All Céile Dé teaching events are hosted by one of our teachers, who have been trained and ordained to pass on the tradition in its purest form. If you are thinking about coming to a Céile Dé event you will find the following information useful.
Céile Dé annual residential teaching retreats are intensive, deliberately so, in order to create conditions that people often find difficult to manifest by themselves at home and in their everyday lives.
Each retreat gives those who are following the tradition an opportunity to receive sufficient material to work with until their next annual teaching retreat. The teaching sessions are supported by frequent contemplative practices, and by the peaceful silence which is held at all times between teaching sessions. Silence helps us to fully absorb the powerful energies which are transmitted during teachings and practices. Céile Dé teachings are about a great deal more than 'knowledge' ... You can read more about the culture of Silence at our teaching retreats here. |
Our Daily Schedule
Each day begins with our Céile Dé practice of meditation before breakfast.
During the morning there are generally two sessions, each of which is around one hour's duration. These consist of either teachings, group discussion or some kind of spiritual practice. There is a break between each session, with enough time for reflection as well as refreshments. Afternoons are a similar shape, but there is more time available to spend in quiet reflection, either in Nature or indoors, as you wish. There is another meditation, or some other spiritual practice, before dinner. There is usually some free time after dinner - but optional evening sessions are available, giving retreatants the choice to rest a little - or stay intense! Every day ends with a meditation around 9 pm, after which we go straight to bed and hope for rich dreams after a day filled with soul nourishment. Peaceful, companionable silence is held at all times outside of sessions. |
Unless specifically stated in the information provided for a specific gathering, all teaching retreats include the following as a matter of course:
~ Regular prayer times/meditation practices every day ~ Ancient Gaelic sacred chants ~ Spiritual Teachings from the Céile Dé tradition ~ Spiritual practices for inner transformation ~ Quiet time in Nature; the Face of The Divine. Written materials are provided in order to aid further study and reflection. |
Introductory Retreats
Introductory teaching events are geared specifically towards newcomers and are always clearly identified by their title. As with all of our retreats, they are facilitated by one of our ordained teachers. If there are no introductory teachings available in your area, you are welcome to attend any of our teaching retreats as there will be frequent reference throughout to what has been taught before. |
