The UK and European Caim Bursary Fund
|
The UK and European Bursary Fund provides financial support to help members of the caim attend their annual teaching retreats in the UK, when financial concerns would otherwise make it impossible for them to attend.
The Bursary Fund was created, and is sustained entirely by generous donations from members of our community. On this page you can find out more information about how the fund is administered. You can also make a donation to the fund. If you would like to apply for a bursary, please click on the link below. We treat all applications as confidential, your information will not be shared with anyone else. |
Frequently asked questions
What will my bursary cover?
The deposit is paid by you, then we ask you to decide how much you are able to contribute to the remaining cost of your accommodation and meals on your fully residential retreat. A bursary would hope to cover the amount that remains after your contribution (depending on our available funds).
What will my bursary NOT cover?
The bursary will not cover your deposit or your Deercc - the contribution you make for the teachings you receive during the retreat. (See 'Deercc')
Who administers the UK and European Bursary Fund?
Sr Fionn no longer administers the bursary fund so it is now being managed by Teinntean - the same team who are organising the UK/European teaching retreats. The team is Heike Killet, Marion Wilson, Lesley Russell and Julie Darling, all long-standing and dedicated caim members from the UK and Europe.
The Bursary Form keeps it simple, with no need for explanations. All applications will be treated confidentially as before, the difference being that Sr Fionn will not know who is applying, as our team will be dealing with it.

How do I apply for a Bursary?
The process is very simple and confidential. You fill in an online application form, which goes to the Teinntean Team. No one else will be aware of your application. We will always aim to respond to any bursary request as quickly as possible. We never ask people to explain why they need the bursary – we trust that our caimeachs are asking for good reason. Please apply for a bursary as soon as you start to consider making your booking to help us manage the finance which we have available for this purpose.
Please read all the relevant information before you complete the simple online application form on The Bursary Application Page . Here you will also find more information about which costs your bursary can cover, and how it works in practice.
If you have any difficulties with this, please do email us at [email protected] and we will do our best to help and support you with the application process.

Where does the money for the Bursary Fund come from?
The UK and European Bursary Fund relies solely on donations from its community. The degree to which we are able to offer financial support through the Bursary Fund depends entirely on the generosity of caim members in the UK. We have no wealthy sponsors or secret backers. It is a wonderful and highly valued feature of our Céile Dé community that we support and help each other, in whatever way we are able, including financially, where there is genuine need. We are grateful for the generosity of those who take the step to contribute to the financial wellbeing of the caim, as we all walk together on this ancient and beautiful path.
How can I donate?
People often ask how they can support their fellow caimeachs by donating to the Bursary Fund. It's very easy!
You can make your donation online here or you may wish to set up a regular standing order (please contact us for more information at [email protected]) Even small regular amounts make a very real difference.
The price of a coffee and cake (around £6 - a cost which many of us don't even think about!) donated monthly helps to keep the fund running. Just £5 or £10, donated occasionally or even once a month, is gratefully received.
Larger amounts help to keep the fund secure for future need, so that we can support those who would otherwise be unable to receive the teachings that nourish their spiritual lives.
