2022 Teachings at Parcevall Hall
Read on to find out more about the focus of the teachings that Sr Fionn will present to us.
Lao Tzu said:
"Watch your thoughts, for they become words Watch your words, for they become actions Watch your actions, for they become habits Watch your habits, for they become character Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny” Gurdjieff said: “Your Being attracts your life” Christ said: “...seek ye first the kingdom of God …….. and all these things shall be added unto you." |
Each one of these sayings expresses the spirit of the Céile Dé teachings, in which the emphasis is always on Spiritual Realisation, in the understanding that, as the quality of our Being (our Essential Nature) increases, the ways in which we may serve others, and indeed the Earth Herself, will be drawn to us with little need for concern on our part as to what we “should” be doing with our lives.
This natural process wants to flow from deep within each of us, and yet it will only start to happen when we have dissolved many of the Veils of Illusion, called Cáilean in the Céile Dé tradition, that confuse and hinder our clear vision: both inner work and devotion reveal and dissolve these veils.
In our gathering we will explore how these Cáilean (the word also means “traits”) are formed, how we can learn to recognise them and also the stages of their dissolution. Finally, we will consider some of the ways we can avoid growing new Cáilean, as well as learning one practice for consciously growing helpful "traits".
The functioning state of a human being who is able to live largely free of the hostageship of Cáilean is called Dán.. an ancient Gaelic word that means both “Destiny" and “Gift, or Skill”. Our gathering will be taking place soon after the Spring Equinox which, in the Céile Dé Tradition, works with many of the ideas expressed here and so retreatants will also be invited to take part in a simple ceremony to mark this powerful time of the year.
As always, along with exploring and deepening our understanding of some of the teachings of our tradition, our retreat will include regular devotional practices and through all of this will be woven the practice of inner and outer silence. As part of your preparation for this gathering, you are encouraged to read this article.
We will also share our beautiful practice of Oran Turais, which is prayer with the body and the chanting of a fonn (sacred chant) and is most often practiced outside in nature. This practice cannot be taught online which makes this in-person retreat a very special opportunity to share one of our foundational sacred practices.
I look forward to spending this meaningful time with you.
Many blessings until we meet
